Depending on if you are using a desktop or a mobile, there might be different reasons why your microphone is not working.
Desktops or laptops
1. If you are doing the tech check, select another microphone for the microphone check.
2. Confirm that your microphone works.
MacOS
- Go to System Preferences > Sound.
- Go to the Input tab.
- Make sure the desired device appears there and that the volume is on.
Windows 10
- Go to Settings > System > Sound.
- Make sure that your desired input device can be found within the corresponding drop-down.
- If not, click on Manage sound devices to see if they appear there and, if they do, make sure they are enabled.
- Try the Troubleshoot option to identify any problems.
3. If using a headset, make sure it is properly connected to your computer and that your microphone is not muted.
4. Check if the microphone is blocked in the OS.
MacOS
- Go to System preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone.
- Select the checkbox next to Google Chrome.
- Restart your browser for the changes to take effect.
Windows 10
- Within the search bar next to the windows menu icon at the bottom left, look for Settings.
- Within Settings, look for microphone privacy settings.
- Under Allow apps to access your microphone, the toggle must be on.
- Under Allow desktop apps to access your microphone, the toggle next to Chrome must be on.
5. Check if the microphone is blocked in the browser.
- Paste chrome://settings/content/microphone within the Chrome address bar and hit Enter.
- If UserZoom is under the blocked sites, remove it from there.
6. Check that no other software is already using the microphone.
If none of the above steps solves the issue, restarting your computer might help.
Mobile devices
1. Make sure that your device's microphone works.
2. Try with an external headset.
3. Make sure that the UserZoom Live app can access your microphone.
iOS
- Go to Settings > Privacy.
- Look for the UserZoom Live app and enable microphone access for it.
Android
- Go to your Settings app.
- Within the search, look for permissions.
- Choose Microphone.
- Look for the UserZoom Live app and enable microphone access for it.
